St. Mychal’s was formed out of the recognition for the continued need for a spiritual home that is open, safe, contemporary, and welcoming. Created with Fr. Mychal Judge’s inclusive, and loving ministry in mind, ours is a parish that isn’t very “churchy” but more about living in the moment, and loving all, as Jesus did.
The major focus of our pastoral staff is for the spiritual support of the first responder community. Our founding pastor is an emergency service chaplain serving fire, police, and ambulance services all over the New England area, both officially as well as unofficially.
He has been involved in emergency services since he was a fire explorer at the age of 14, and still works full time as an EMS clinical leader and educator in Southern New Hampshire, a disaster chaplain for the US Department of Health and Human Services – National Disaster Medical Service, as well as a Hospice Chaplain.
A repeated observation in his time in emergency services, is the remarkable need for better education, understanding, and access to mental health resources, as our first responders face unfathomable traumas, critical incidents, and stressors which impact themselves, their families, and the world as a whole, daily. This passion has created opportunities for his continued education in secondary trauma, compassion fatigue.
He is passionate about inclusivity. And is constantly learning all he can to be of service to all as a pastoral crisis interventionist, a listening ear, and shoulder to cry on.
He is a board certified crisis chaplain by the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress (CCC), and is International Critical Incident Stress Foundation’s Certified in Critical Incident Stress Management (CCISM).
