Pastoral Care

Sometimes we need someone to walk beside us.

Begin with a conversation
Illness, grief, recovery, family strain, spiritual questions, or a difficult decision can feel heavy. You do not need to be a parish member or know the right church terminology. You can simply say, “Can we talk?”

Meeting you where you are
When possible and appropriate, visits may take place in homes, hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation facilities, hospice settings, or community locations. Pastoral care may include listening, prayer, Communion, or Anointing of the Sick.

Illness, caregiving, and grief
A diagnosis affects families as well as patients. Grief continues long after a funeral. We offer a listening presence and prayer for patients, caregivers, and people living with loss.

Recovery and religious hurt
People in recovery deserve dignity, encouragement, and community. People harmed by religion deserve to tell their stories without having to defend them. We begin by listening.

Spiritual questions
Questions about God, faith, science, doubt, or returning to church are welcome. There is no test to pass before starting a conversation.

The right kind of support
Pastoral care is spiritual support and does not replace medical treatment, mental health care, substance use treatment, or emergency services. We can encourage connection with appropriate care when needed.

You do not need the right words. Reach out, and we will begin there.
